861651 Crawford Co. Pa. December 1st. 1861 My dear uncle I now for the first time undertake to inform you that wee ar all well at present hopeing these few lines will find you all injoying the same blessing wee hav had very nice weather this fall untill about aweeak ago it is snowing to day quite briskly father has been working at the mason trad all this summer except awhile in harvest. our crops ware midling good this last harvest crops in general have been midling good uncle david was here a few days since they wir all well then he is geting along pretty well considering his [chance?] wee heard from uncle Johns folks a few days since they wer all well then Mathew has been going to school in harts town this fall he is going to teach school in the McEntire district this winter for fifteen dollers a month wee have heard that John was wounded and maiby killed at the battle of columbus Hugh Andrews wrote thet eight of his mess mates went out and only two returned and that John was among the missing and that when he was last seen he had one arm shot off and wounded in the foot wee woould be glad you wouuld write soon if you know anny thing about John wee woould be glad to hear from him and all the rest of the family times go on old fashoned here snow in the winter and sunshine in the summer nothing more at present but remains yours Georg Irwin
