Camp Sherman Vicksburg Miss Sept 22nd 1863 Dear Mother having a few Leisure hours I though I could not better improve the time than by writing you these few lines and trust they may find you in the enjoyment of good health as I am at preset I have not felt so well since last fall and trust I may continue so as it is one of the greatest blessings that we can be posessed of and I have learnt how to appreciate it
