Wood vill Alabama January 1st 1864 Dear Father & Mother As Mr Withrow leaves here to day for home I take the opportunity of sending these few lines to you hoping they may find you enjoying good health and prosperity as I am at present we arrived at this place day before yesterday after a March of nine days from Bridgeport and will remain here for two months as we have orders to build winter quarters on the march I received your letter the first I have got from home for five weeks pleased to hear that you were all well & sorry
