Camp 25th Iowa inft Woodville Ala April 9th 1864 Dear Mother & father as I have the opportunity of sending you a few lines By Capt. Newbold I take advantage of it. I send by him twenty eight dollars (28) to you and you will please pay Mr. Barnes fore me eleven dollars & thirty cents (11.30) that I get frome the sale of Willises fruites send him by his folks I sent Willis per mail five dollars ($5) which he received the total amount of what the things bought was $16.30. when you have paid him the eleven dollars & 30 cts. he will have all the goods Brought. I done the best I could with them well Captain goes home to day or rather starts he can
