Rear of Acworth Geo. Jun 17th 1864 Dear Mother As I was writing a few to sister I thought I would write you a short not also well mother this has been a very hard campaign so far we have had so much marching and diggin to do and a great deal of rain it rained here from June 1 up to the 11th to beat any thing and the men were pretty well tired our army has drove the Rebels out every position they have taken yet and in two ore three weeks atlanta will be our I hope in in god our army has been very successful so far
