TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 1864. Visited Pickets about 2 O'Clock P.M. and found all quiet. Remained up all night Finished my Muster Roll for Feb 29th 1864 by having Corpl Root work on the same and he is doing it up nicely. Received notice that I was Promoted to Capt. WEDNESDAY 23 Spent the day arranging my papers and in making Capt McCurdy's Ordnance Reports there are two of them to Complete yet, was not on drill in afternoon being engaged as above Unwell THURSDAY 24 Took Comd. of Co A. was on duty all day Went on a scout at Night Maj. Sandersen Comdg. Co's A & B being all that was along rode all night Making about 30 miles very much oppressed drisseled Rain all night
