WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1864. Started at usual time passed through Winchester and Cowen and made the top of the Cumberland Mountains where we encamped having marched 18 miles this day stil continued pleasant although it threatens to rain daily. THURSDAY 7 Started in good time and made Cantell's Station at noon where men's Bundles were Inspected and all things not allowed thrown away - Wagons emptied of officers Bundles - of which Lt. Chas D Clark mourns one. Encamped at Andersen's Station, distance 14 miles - Col's Horse [Trimmed?] (Vertically over left of entry:-) Issued out one Cav. Saddle for me Per Order Col. Smith FRIDAY 8 Rained Last Night almost Blew down Tent, Rained none during day. Reached Stevenson about 2 O'Clock P.M. distance 12 miles Encamped - Lt.J.H M Perry joined us this day from absence det. in Ohio Recruiting for 10th O.V.C. his success good. A in the advance this day.
