WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, 1864. Field officer of day is in other word Brigade or division officer of day,  Posted 226 men and 4 officer on 4 Posts at the foot of Taylors Ridge our line of videttes cover some 10 miles front. It took me all day. My health is better than it has been for some time was Introduced to Gen Kilpatrick 
THURSDAY 28 Feel well - Pleasant Morn Start with Private Cook Co. "A" 10th O.V.C. to Visit our Chain of Cav. Outposts and Videttes Took me all day.- One Post at Hensy's Mill was attacked the Rebs only Captured 4 Horses and the Men escaped All quiet in line  
FRIDAY 29 The 10th or all of those in Camp - with the 92nd Ill Vol Mt. Infty and the 3rd Ky. Cav. under Gen. Kilpatrick made a reconnoisan through Hooker's Gape - in all 430 men and charged the Rebs 2000 strong and drove them. Sergt Mackey Co. "B" wounded in leg - accomplished all they intended and Returned
