THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 1864. Fine warm weather occupied as usual went on a scout of twelve miles down the Otawa River crossing the same at Gillam's Bridge and riding from 4 O'Clock P.M. to Taps - saw nothing neither learned any thing FRIDAY 24 went on Picket to Doherty's Ford about ten (10) miles up the Otawa two (2) miles below Carterville. very warm on the horses especially as they were saddled 32 hours all quiet at ford SATURDAY 25 Sent out a scout across the ford and Captured a Mule learned two rebs. were near the ford and nothing more. Relieved by Capt. Platt about noon Reached Camp in [duty?] time after riding through the warm sun
