THURSDAY, JULY 14, 1864. Nothing of importance except have more labor to do than common as the boys have not so much to do hence they busy themselves making a noise and quarreling sometimes and we have to quell it and keep them straight FRIDAY 15 Warm and dry all Co. in Camp - nothing new. Went on a two days scout down the River Crossed the Etowa Almost loosing six men by missing ford. arrived at [Uharla?] about Midnight and staid all night distance 20 miles SATURDAY 16 Fed on some persons Cut Oats and returned by same Road as Came intercepted two Rebs. and Captured one Mule & one set of Equipments & Arms, and passed on when six Rebs. Rode upon our Rear and fired into us when we Chased them four miles unsuccessfully - Returned to Camp at sun down Tired and dusty
