SATURDAY, JULY 23, 1864. The Nights are very cool now for the time of year. Was officer of the day and it is not Laborious in the Camp and have nothing to do with the Pickets. Learned through some source that we had very heavy fighting in the Streets of Atlanta Ga. all of which is rumor with some considerable show of truth. SUNDAY 24 Days Warm - Nights Cool attended church Boots and saddles sounded and we get out in about 5 minutes only a false report caused by a Liar in Our own Co. Carried by a citizen to whom he told the Report MONDAY 25 Went to City Cartersville to try and collect some money in Receipt Rolls but failed for want of proper vouchers - Paid $61.00 for a sorrel horse 8 yrs.Old and am owing $65.00 for another one.
