FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1864. Up at daylight. men tired but plenty to eat - I had soft [Bread?] - In the afternoon moved to a spot selected for a Camp. and had some trouble in desciphering how it was intended to have the tents put up Commenced Making Muster Rolls, for July and Aug, worked Late, duty excessive in men  SATURDAY 10 Up and at Muster Rolls - Mustered in forenoon - Continued all day making other Rolls and Papers - This Camp is Called Crooks in honor of Lt Crooks who fell in the engagemment of the 29th Aug. The Rebs gobbled a squad of our men - had three out all when Reached us Minus arms and sore feet - Corpl or sergt Meeks Co B. and Prv. Sowers Co. "B". missing  SUNDAY 11 Up early and at muster Rolls finished them and then went and saw seven dead men brought in the morning from Campbelltown killed in yesterdays affray - One man alone from Co D 10th O V.C. and the others from the 8th Ind.Cav. Fifty Rebs dashed on Eighty of us but our men were scattered -. on general Courtmarshall convening (Vertically, at right:-) tomorrow
