OCTOBER. 1864 13. 17th Iowa in stockade at Tilton Ga Rebels in line of battle all around our works Fighting progressing Taken Prisoner to day at Tilton Ga by the rebels fought (Vertically, at right:-) them [Off?] 14. Friday Staid near Dalton last night - took our march in a southern direction The rebels tore up & burned the R.R. from Resaca to Dalton marched all day without any thing to eat We are guarded by the 36th Miss = Stuarts Corps 15. Saturday. Camped last night south of "Dug gap" mached all day southward with nothing to eat
