1865 Continued 3rd Morning moved to the right and front and tok our position in a small hollow and commenced to dig rifle pitts on the raise of the hill evening advanced our picketts one hundred yards and commenced to dig annother line of rifle pitts one hundred yards in advance of our other line (drew full rations) 4th companies E and N. was ordered out at 3 oclock A.M. to work on the rifle pitt worked untill 11 oclock A.M. rebbles shelled the fatigue but done no harm evening pickets again advanced and annother line of rifle pitts are commenced one hundred yards in advance third line 5th Three pieces of artillery opened for the first since the siege commenced and was verry redily replied by the rebbles guns considerable fireing by the picketts no advance of our lines heavy firing at Spanish fort by Gen Granger
