1865 Continued 29th received orders to be ready to go on provost guard next morning immediately after Muster and inspt 30th Sunday inspection and muster at 8 oclock. A.M. went immediately to town on provost guard nothing of importance hapening. May 5th Month 1865 1st was relieved of provost guard at 8 oclock A.M. and came to camp 2nd Layed in camp all day drill 3rd companies E and K and H went on provost guard rumor of the surrender of gen Taylor and his entire army to Canby 4th Morning of the 4th was relieved and came to camp 5th was Sargent of the camp guard Taylors surrender confirmed 6th compayie C. H and E went in town on provost guard but I did not go as I was not yet relieved from camp guard
