July & fell back, while the [illegible] Corps was relieving them the enemy tried to shell them back we soon got a couple of (priors?) in position & soon silenced the enemy 20th in the morning (we?) moved toward Atlanta we could hear sharp skirmishing in front of us & considerable cannonading; 41 prisoners brought back to us to guard one of them a 1st (Leit?), he puts on many airs & appears very indignant
