4th all of our regt that were not on duty were detailed & went near the front for the purpose of taking prisoners to the rear in case we got any in the afternoon 50 of us went to guard an amunition train which lay about 1 1/2 mile to our rear Some heavy cannonading 5th Saw 200 prisoners going to the 14th corps Hd Qrs the 111th & 23rd Corps take about 750 & advance our lines 3/4 mile with hard fighting receive a letter
