Oct 19th at 11 A M we march pass in sight of Summersville & continue on toward Alabama following down a rich valley cross two large creeks; <inserted: one the Chatooga River> find plenty of potatoes beans corn hogs sheeps & chckens &c, pass through some large camps where the rebs lay night before last, the ground is covered with the seeds & skins of pumpkins & bean pods, we camp for the night on a flat near a mill race draw rations in the night, march 10 miles
