The Saguenay, Ottowa, & Guatineau all rise in nearly the same spot. noticed several ducks here & I think Ottawa would be a good place for head quarters for sporting purposes. August 10th. The whole of the Ottowa comes down the Chaudiere falls just above the town which is here I guess about 500 yds wide. The rock here is in horizontal strata & seems soft it lies in slabs like the natural steps at Quebec. On your left hand side as you look up the river is the greatest part of the fall, there being a kind of channel here & the centre & left being a kind of raised table rock of different levels some of the water rushes round the top of this level
