slides the rafts are divided & the divisions called cribs are about 50 ft long by 20 broad the slides are just a little wider. these cribs shoot down the slide at a great pace. the one we went on was the 100th part.of a raft. a crib consits of saw logs close together a cross piece fixed at each end & then 6 or more logs merely laid on the cross pieces parallel with the first logs as the cross pieces are only fixed at the ends the centre logs often come out, going down the water rushes over the lower logs & the upper ones are the only dry part of the crib. The wood of our crib was cut 200 miles up & started on April 7th the wages earned they
