you have Jennie; those who have remembered me and have cherished my memory as that of a friend, as I hope you have Jennie; you and your gentle sister Sallie. For the memory of the days I spent in your home is among the hightest in my heart. Heaven bless you all. General Sherman who arrived on the 15th has placed our prospect of going home on the strength of our our reenlistment as Veterans in such a position as to almost annihilate it. I do not know just what he has told Col. Winslow but I know that there is but little hope just at present of our going home as we have been twice positively promised. A great many of the regiment a majority and I among them, have never been home since first leaving and such a visit would be very happy
