I have not written for quite a while we have been expecting to start every day but now I have given up the hope I have received several letters from Abner and Susan, this will be an answer for all, write as often as you can I am alway glad to hear from home, tell me how your preacher is getting along this year? and whether [her Pain?] is still improveing his Plantation yet or not? and how he stands on the Union question now, and what has been done about the blowing up of the Courthouse? &c, I remain as ever yours with affection true Asahel Mann Jr
