Milt has told you I know, in a little Town near Meridian called Marian we Camped for three or four days while there our Company was on Provst guard, to keep our soldiers from burning private property, Milt and I wer stationed at a house where there was a pretty little Duch Jewess. Milt says I fell in love with her but you know better than that. when we started back she came out to the door and bid me good bye Shaking hands with me. I thought that was rather friendly for a little rebel, althought she Claimed to be good union. I understood all that she was only pretending to be union to get us to guard their property, they might deceive a new recruit but not an old veteran. I dont like a rebel woman any better than a rebel man. they are all traitors together. There was one man in that little town that said the South was fighting in a better cause than Genl. Washington ever was and one of his girls burned a book because Will. Good showed her our flag printed on it. this young lady had the pleasure of seeing her father's house burned to ashes before we left there, hardly giveing her time to get her Piano out, it may seem hard hearted to you, but I was glad to see their house in flames. I know you are tired of this letter it is such a dull uninteresting thing. How are you enjoying your self with the Veterans I know you will have some pleasant times with them there is some real good soldiers among them. I hope those sick friends of
