Sept 8th / 64 Dear Suse Feeling lonely and to some extent home sick I thought to pass off an hour by having a talk with you - if you have not forgoten that such a person as Will Mann ever lived - if I wer to judge by your long silence I should Ceartainly think that you had - but I do live and am glad of it - alltho the pleasures of life in the army are not such that are calculated to make men Cling to life verry tenashaly - yet I desire to live to see the end of this rebellion if there wer nothing else to live for well Suse I have been taking a ride this evening through the city and the surburbs my mind was deeply impressed with the various
