but did not have an opportunity of sending them to you. I have received four letters from you since I left St. Louis I have sent but two to you. Capt Rector got one of your letters at Rolla and kept it in his pocket for a month it was the one that had Miss Allsworths letter in I thank you for sending me it I guess it was as good as Miss Pauls letter at least I would be willing to pay postage for such I showed it to Will Murray he said it was a splendid letter. if you have any more as good correspondence just send a long your letters. and perhaps I will get another letter from John Brown. but dont think I am compareing her letters with John's you said I must send it back to you I am almost ashamed to for I have got it so soiled I got wet several times while I was travling it looks like it had been thorough the war if you can get it to talk it can tell you something a bout soldering I had to burn all my letters. Milt said he was going tell you a bout it well it is no worse to burn them than to wear them out carrying them in my pocket. I got your last letter a week a go I was very sorrow to hear of you being so sick I hope you are well long before this time. oh you dont know how much good it does me to get a letter a way down in this rough country it makes me feel almost as well as to hear of our troops gaining a victory we get but very little war news down here There was one woman down here said she wished she was in Tenn. where she used to live she said she would be out of this war then. now you can see what they know down here. It is thought by some that the war would be over in a few months. I dont think I will be home for a year or perhapse more. Milt talks like going to Ohio when the war is over I think he will go by way of Austin. I like camping out much better than staying in Barracks
