you say that John W. wants to go in the army - tell him for me that it is no place for one so yong and by all means not to attempt it - I will write to him in afew days. Father I wish you if you Can to take Controle of him - tell him that I wish him to be subject to your orders it was for this purpose that I wanted you to git him - with you there is no prospect of any fiting at this point at present - there is no large force of rebbles near here - at least our scouts can find none but small partys - we have a large army here now for what purpose I know not but I suppose it is to lay in Camp as has been done through out the army - but Old McCleland is now out of the way and it to be hoped that there will be a forward movement if there is not and that soon wake to our Country - the soldiers are geting tird of this do nothing policy - they did not enlist to drag out three years of their lives in Camp - and I do not beleive that even with the Chain of military power they can hold still mutch longe..unless they have the privalige to advance - they want
