6th,, At 8 A.M. we moved out to the works of 2" brig. then moved back to the 3d line. Our works are within a short distance of the enemys and the picket and artillery firing continuous. Ball and shell make the air hideous with their screaming. Many men wounded. 7" In the afternoon the artillery opened, shelled the woods, the Rebels replying and made it lively for us in the works.
