25 19 miles Salt river where I with a Kentuckian took up our quarters in a wheat-stack for the night, 26 Started before day and caught up with the regt at Salt river Two of the brigades took steamboat to L, while we started on foot as usual West Point is a small town at the mouth of the Salt river where it empties into the Ohio Above the town is a fortress commanding both rivers, and appears to be a strong place Salt river is crossed by a bridge of barges Passed through a very good country-side Fell behind the [agent?] Regt made 20 miles
