10 miles to-day Mond 5th Early reveille, and by 7 the whole army was in motion Passed the field and crossed Stone river having to wade, Were the 2nd brigade in the city. Hospitals, Citizens, Small pox, Camp, 31st out after bacon & flour, Brigade double quick out to support the Tennesseans, Go to bed hungry Tues 6th A rainy night and cold cheerless morning are without rations A good deal of artillery firing on Shelbyville pike yesterday afternoon. Got rations at noon, came near starving that time Some troops moving out A brigade moved out on the pike to our left Got mail first time for 8 days.
