7" One year ago today we left home on return from Veteran Furlough. [Two lines of code] We had an early reveille, but did not move, as some of the boats managed to sink delaying us another half a day. The Cavalry passed over, also part of 1st Div during the night Fayetteville on the Cape Fear river is our destination, and report says our men hold Wilmington and have a base at F for us with communication up the C Fear river The weather decidedly grand We are very near the line between the States a little distance in S.C.
