Reached Lavergne at 5 P.M. and pitched tents, At times we had to pull mules and all through mud nearly knee deep Was over to see the B boys of 1st OVC 4 Cos being there No houses left in Lavergne and the whole country desolated with the road lined with dead horses burnt wagons &c.
