Davenport, Iowa. April 3d 1866 Thos C. Durant, Esq. New York Dear Sir, Yours of 13th [ulto?]. with enclosure as stated, duly recd. I enclose herewith the Power of Attorney from Heloise H. Durant to Henry C. Crane, as it requires the official seal of the [Commissioner?] of Deeds before whom the acknowledgement was taken, to make it legal & please have same affixed and return to me. In addition to the claim of Geo. L Davenport [illegible] 16. [L?] Government, of which we were speaking recently, Mr. D. declines naming a price at which he would dispose of it. Yours truly Jn. L.
