Davenport, Iowa, Octo 25th, 1866 H. C. Crane, Esq. New York Dear Sir, I have [traced?] up the two 80 acre tracts of land which were given to T. C. Durant and for which you [could?] find no account when I was in N.Y.; they are as follows, viz. in Iowa County. East 1/2 of SW 1/4 S19.T80.R12 = 80 acres & in Poweshiek Co. West 1/2 of NE 1/4 22.80.14 = 80 acres for this last tract, I enclose the deed, which was found in the Treasurer's office at Montezuma. -- The Iowa Co. 80 was conveyed by one J. Blackburn, but the deed cannot be found -- the Co Records show the conveyance. I saw the Doctor when he passed through Chicago with the excursionists and explained to him the reason of the delay in settlement of the sale of Mill Lot -- The lawyer who examined title for the purchasers objects to your Power of Attorney, as it was made before a Commissioner whose seal does not show that he was a Commissioner for the State of Iowa, which is required by our law -- consequently T. C. D. signed a new deed and also an agreement, of which last document I enclose a copy herein. There are some
