June 8th 1874 Extent of a letter from WB Holliwk to John L Coffin, [??] Marengo, Iowa June 4th '74. "The Depot including "Durant's addition" has been added to the corporation of Marengo by vote taken 28th ult. The matter of recording that Addition is again agitated and they are swearing to prosecute and all that sort of thing, because the Plat has not been recorded-- I have explained the fact of Dr. Durant's prolonged absence in Europe and that it would be fixed at the very earliest moment possible on his return, but they are getting tired of delay -- Out of courtesy to you they defer action until their next session in July. Please have the plat certified to by Dr. Durant and returned before their next session." Dear Crane Recd & [illegible] JL Coffin
