Crane, Esq, Atty etc 20 Nassau St. New York Dear Sir, The original Plat of Marengo lots made by Peter H Dey in 1862 & '66, some time, was said to have been lost. In June, 1866, Luke Baldwin, of Marengo, bought the first lot sold and TC Durant conveyed it to him by [meter?] and bounds, the measurement having been ascertained by a surveyor who was employed with Dey in the original survey and thought, no doubt, he was getting the lot correct according to Dey's survey. It appears that the Plat recorded the past summer, which was copied by B. Brayton, Surveyor, from a copy of the original Plat
