Boston Sept 15th 1865 To T.C. Durant Esq. Dear Sir I have recd your telegram to send you 50,000. I am short myself. Gilbert has not yet paid anything on his stock will try to get something tomorrow of him for you. I think you should increase the capital to 2 1/2 or 3 millions and get the stock taken by Mr. Blair and others and not be so short of money. I will try to get some of those notes discounted if possible for you in course of a week. I am sorry to hear that you are comeing short of ties it is bad for us and will be against us in congress next winter. Yours Truly, Oakes Ames
