This article of agreement made this 11th day of August A.D. 1866 by and between Thomas C. Durant of the City of New York of the one part and Wellington Scott, James E. Sindsay, John B. Phelps, James Hewett, Oliver S. Woods, and Chaunecy Blakeslee of the County of Scott and State of Iowa of the other part witnesseth that whereas the said Thomas C. Durant has this day sold unto the said Wellington Scott, James E. Sindsay, John B. Phelps, James Hewitt, Oliver S Woods and Chauncey Blakslee the following Real Estate lying in said County of Scott and State of Iowa to wit: A portion of the North West quarter and of the South West fractional quarter of Section No thirty (30) in Township No Seventy Eight (78) North of Range No Four (4) East bounded as follows. Commencing at a point on the Mississippi River, Eleven (11) chains and Twenty-five (25) links from the North and South division line of said Section, thence North about Four-hundred (400) feet to Main Street in the town of East Davenport, thence West along said Main Street five (5) chains to a post, thence South Four hundred (400) feet to the Mississippi River, thence East along said River to place of beginning.
