New York, Sept 11th 1871 T. C. Durant Esq Dear Sir I have been negotiating with ? parties on Staten Island for an Exchange of a large house I own on Willow St. (Brooklyn Heights) for Staten Island properties. During these negotiations I have a property on the hill on Vanderbilt Ave (I think) Staten Island which was told belongs to you and is for Exchange for New York or Brooklyn property. I called at your office to see you ? but you were out of town and now write to say if you are disposed to trade for a good Brooklyn house a house that I have offered $2000 ? for unfurnished I shall be pleased to show you my property and to look at yours. The title to mine is perfect - all taxes assessments or paid valued at $25,000 mortgage for $15,000 to ? - a four story high ? brick 25+ 50+100 Yours Respectfully H. L. Rider
