May 19, 1865 Dr Sir, Your three Telegrams reached me this P. M about 2 o'clock - The dispatch to Salt Lake was sent at once yesterday & I have received 2 dispatches from Reed this A.M. dated July 27. Salt Lake City to wit: Have completed all surveys & explorations ordered in my instructions, shall I make surveys west across Desert, am waiting orders authorize to pay expenses S.B. Reed the other merely announcing Draft for $1236 to pay expenses - Lambard telegraphs me to send [ceft?] Cr. Mobiler for $25.000, full paid Stock in name of J.P. Hazard, which I enclose I advised Lambard yesterday of Draft for $10.000. - I can get along Monday & Tuesday very well, and will inform you on Monday how it will be on Wednesday, I think I can manage it with ease, but do not like
