My Trip to the Club Congress. The 4-H Club Congress was held in Chicago during the week of Nov. 29th to Dec. 5th. This week denotes it to be in the winter time, but we had splendid weather during the whole week. With Mrs Bakke, our 4-H Mother, and also Mrs Barker, we had a wonderful time. One day came in the mail a letter from Mrs Bakke, which follows this page, asking me if I could accept this trip as a winner of the Three Year Home Economics Contest. I was certainly surprized, but was I happy? Well I just guess I was. So I hasten a letter to Mrs Bakke answering her that I would by all means accept this trip. The next I knew of, I saw in the Des Moines Capital and Tribune a heading, "Iowa Juniors Awarded Trips". As I read this interesting item, I saw my own name among other winners. Next I received cards and letters of congratulations, and items began to come out in our own county papers and Farm Bureau Bulletins. Was I happier than ever, well I just can't express myself, as I was the happiest girl in the whole world I know. One evening, the weather being disagreeable, a lot of cars drove in our yard. Before I knew it, a lots and lots of people were in our own home, having their baskets with good things to eat. The evening was spent in games, and social time. Over fifty people were present.
