Denison Total Abstinence Union meeting minutes, May 1879

Denison Iowa.  May 10th 1879.
The Denison Total Abstinence Union met pursuant to adjournment.  President in the chair.  Meeting opened with singing.  Minutes of the last meeting read and approved.  Miss Sina Bond then favored the Club with a recitation.  Miss Hattie McAhern reported not prepared with select reading as per programme.  A.F. French, A.C. Smith, and Miss Hattie Harris absent.  Mr. Lane of Canada favored the meeting with select reading.  Mrs. Weldon then offered to read a selection.  
Programme for the next meeting Question for debate: Resolved that the United States would be benefited by allowing the women to vote on the Liquor Question.  Speakers -- on the affirmative.  Mrs Weldon, Negative -- R. [Shawvan.?]  The speakers to choose their own assistants.
