4 Dover Cake (From Washington.) Mingle two even teaspoonfuls of cream tartar in 1 lb. flour, & mix 1/2 lb. of butter thoroughly with it. Beat 6 eggs & 1 lb. sugar together; add the flour & butter, & flavor with nutmeg, wine, or the rind of two lemons. Last add one even teaspoonful of soda dissolved in a cup of milk. This makes two cakes.
