16. Hard Yellow Salve Take half a Pound of Burgamy Pitch, a quarter pound of Bees wax, 2 oz: of Frankincense, put it all together into a Pan, melt it well & let it boyl softly, then put it into fair Water, & work it in Rolls, it's good for Sprains or any hard Swellings in the ye Breast. 17. To make Syrup of Steel Take an oz: of ye Filings of Steel, steep it in a Pint of white wine 10 Days shakeing it every Day, & filter it through a Brown Paper, then put in a quarter pound of Mace, the next day boyl it to a Syrup. 18. Black Salve Take a pint of Oyl of Olives, put it to 8 oz: of Red Lead let it boyl softly over the fire till it's black, yn take it off Stirring it till it's cold, y:r put in an oz: of Bees wax, an oz of Rosin, 3 pennyworth of Venice Turpentine w.n they are melted, set it on the Fire & let it boyl till ye Froth goes off Then stir it till almost cold, yn: you must put it into water & work it till it be cold & make it up in Rolls, put it into old Paper ye older ye better
