A receipt for [illegible] Buggs Take of ye highest rectified spirits of wine, viz Lampspirit wch will burn all away dry, & leave not ye least moysture behind half a pint of newly distilled oyl or spirit of Turpentine half a pint. Mrs George's Eye Water. 1 ounce of Bole Armon: 1 ounce of Cumin Seed, 1 ounce of White [Copperise?] all powder'd, & put into a quart of spring water when [beyling?] piece Bole sd - Cumin 1d - [copperase?] 2d For a Consumption Half ounce of Elicampane finely pow'der'd, Half ounce of Liquorice powder, made into pills wth ye Best Barbadoes Tarr, add a few drops of chymical oyl of Annise seeds. 3 pills to be taken every morning, fasting one hour after. 1 penny worth of Lucatella's Balsam made into pills wth double refined sugar to be taken one pill at night For a consumption Mrs Hine 1 pound of fine wheaten Flower 1 ounce of Cyprus Turpentine 2 nutmegs finely grated 2 eggs both yolks & whites 4 ounces of double refin'd sugar 4 ounces of Treacle 1 ounce of white sugar candy Dissolve ye turpentine in ye Treacle then mix all together, & bake them after ye manner of sweet hearts. Take one of them every morning in weight about 1/2 an ounce for 9 mornings together & drink after each cake a small galss of Rum. Then fast 2 hours. probatum For a Cold Mrs Eliz: Woolmer. qer of a pound of Figgs 2 ounces of sugar Candy 2 ounces of stick Liquorish 1 Handful of Hyssop put into a quart of water, Drink a glass every 4 Hours For a Cold Mrs Higgins 1 penny worth of Liquorish Powder Do of Elicampane Dd of [illegible] of Brimstone qer of a pound of Honey Heat the Honey & mix the powders withit. Take a Tea spoonful When going to bed. Red Currant Wine Mrs Loggin Squeeze ye Currants wth ye stalks as dry as you can [illegible] squeez'd put them into cold pump water or spring then squeeze then again, then strain the water in wch they have been squeez'd thro a sieve, & likewise the Currant Juice. To every gallon of Juice put 2 gallons of water, & to every gallon of Liquour 3 pound of Loaf sugar. Mix the sugar in Water till dissolv'd, then [illegible] & at spring of ye [illegible] 4 pound of Currants will yield a quart of [illegible]
