Dr Radcliff's made [Hores?] Milk Take an ounce of pearl Barley, wash it & scald it, then throw ye water away, & take one quart of fresh water, & boyle the barley in it, till half be consumd wth a quarter of an ounce of Enngo Root Candy, & three House snails wch have been first wash'd & clean'd. Then strain it & have half a pint of milk just boyld; when both are cold mix them together. Take half a pint an hour before you rise in the morning, & the same at Night when you go to bed. Mrs Loggin for &c [Boxe?] Armoniack one ounce, Mastich one ounce, powderd & sifted, Mix these wth 2 ounces of Venice turpentine, & melt them together over a gentle Fire, when Melted drop some upon Leather Plaisters as broad as a shilling for a grown person, and as a sixpence for a Child. Bind them on ye wrist as hard as may be, (without making the wrist to swell) & let them continue for a month. Put them on one Hour before the Cold fit is expected. M [beten?] soames for a Cold in an Horse. Oyl 4 ounces, sugar Candy 3, Honey 3, yolks of 2 Eggs beaten in a pint of Ale given luewarm. Pluck Water. Take ye Pluck of a Red calf, & cut it in small pieces while it is warm, & put to it 3 gallons of Red Cows milk, of Mint, Balm, & Wild Hyssop of Each one handful, one quart of snails [bruis'd?], Still these of a Cold Still, it with yeild 5 quarts good, the Bottles must not be Cork'd. For The Mange Train oyl, sose, gunpowder, flower of Brimstone, salt & old stale boild together dress in warm weather give 1st Flower of Brimstone in with or Broth. Shoe Balls. Half a pint of size, one pint of lamb black 2 ounces soap, ye yd part of an halfpenny cande, boil together: & after put in half penny worth of oyl or q 3 as you use it For the Ague 3 qrs of an oun: of Per. Bark, one nutmeg grated 1 spoonful of black pepper, mixt wth spirit of poppies, to be taken ye quantity of a nutmeg every 2 Hours. Salt for a Pit 28lb of comon salt, half a pound of Bay salt, qr of a pound of salt petre Mrs [Dorvy's?] Curran wine Boyl ye water, let it stand till Cold, & to every gall of water wine measure put one gall of [mill?] & 3rd of sugar. Stir it together till dissolv'd put it in to the Barrel wn done working wch will be in a bout a week.
