Beard's Dronch for the Bite of a mad Dog Bay Salt Epsom Salt Salt Prunelle of each 1 Ounce Bole Armoniac Mrs Turbitt, for a Ham Beat it well with a Rolling Pin, then rub well up on it 2 ounce of salt Peter. Let that continue 24 Hours, then Mix 2 ounce of salt Peter, wth 2 pound of Comon salt, & 1/2 a pound of bay salt & half a pound of coarse sugar & make them hot, & lay them over ye Ham, which msut lie in Pickle 3 weeks & be often times basted with the Pickle. Then take it out of ye pickle & hang it up in the Chimney. A Large Ham requires 4 Hours boyling To cause sweating 1 penny worth of Venice Meade taken in warm ale, or sack whey at going to bed. For a swell'd or bruis'd back of an Horse: Wheaten flour, white of Egg, crab verjuice, fine light [soap?] & balm. spread upon soft Leather. Mr Loggin. A receipt from the experienc'd Tom: Teonge for Collecting Carp either for the Capling net or Angling. 1st Scatter 2 handsful of boil'd green pease fm one side of the Pond, or River (if with in yer reach) to ye other, then throw half a pint when you intend to fish. Repeat throwing in half a pint of pease into ye part you intend to fish, for 2 days successively, half an hour before night. Eithere cast your net or (Angle half an hour after baiting. You must not disturb ye place wth a boat. If you bait 2 or more places in ye River, throw the lowest first, that the Mud may not give offence.
