Mrs Woolnecks receipt for a White Cake Take 1/2 lb butter melt it in a pan the night before and straine it thru a sive into a bowl the next day beat it with a wood space till it is white 1/2 lb loaf sugar beat small put it to the butter and 4 eggs well beat mix all together with a little mace 2 or 3 bitter almonds a spoonfull of rose water a little lemon peal then by degrees dridge in 1/2 lb flour Bake it in rather a quick oven
