Col Scott (of the Pa road) in his recent interview with you about the Pacific road organization had expressed to Mr Thomson a favorable opinion of your influence &c with certain N. Y. strong parties, & ability as a tactician & knowing you as I have done for so long a time - this conversation suggested you as a proper party to confer with on this subject before taking any active steps in it myself. Col Scott is not interested in this matter, among the many that he does control however. My idea has been to make up a party in our (regular) stock Board, of which you know I am an old member, altho not active I shall see you in a few days about this matter, after you have considered it.
