junction to Chicago, and such rates in the aggregate through, so fixed from time to time shall always be a common Tariff on both, that shall be maintained alike on both routes from the junction to Chicago & accounted for accordingly. Third. We propose that the M & M road, may connect with our line at any point they choose west of Marengo, provided our line or any part thereof, shall be adopted as the common line of the Eastern connection of your Pacific Road, & that if the M & M line shall be adopted or any part thereof, our Co shall have the right to make a connection with such line at any point at or west of Marengo & such point of connection of our line with yours, or of your line with ours, shall be the junction from which the business to Chicago shall be equally divided, or the profits on the same as aforesaid. Fourth. If our line or any part thereof shall be adopted as the main Pacific Road connection, the friends of the M & M Road Co, shall have the right to subscribe and take one half of the stock, and an equal control in the construction & management
