I have almost [been?] sick for three or four weeks and only for the absolute necessity of keeping [illegible] to keep things agoing would have given up a fortnight ago-- The D.+H.C.Co. have an entirely new set of officials + all the old arrangements to get along here in Saratoga without side tracks -- Lum [Lable?] or Eugene [Hare?], are being looked up -- I have to feel my way along until I can coax them into new ones -- Yours C.H.C.
